Is This The Last Curtain Call For The Kardashians? I Hype Not!!

Perhaps its backlash over the hype from Kim Kardahian’s 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries, or just the normal trajectory of any unexplainable flash-in-the-pan phenomenon, but the country’s long national nightmare regarding the Kardashians might be ending. According to the New York Post anything featuring the overhyped, raven-haired reality show family is turning “absolutely toxic.” From nosediving ratings for “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” to tanking sales of magazines featuring the Kardashian clan, it appears the obsession over the camera-ready clan is ending fast.  The Post reports circulation for the gossip magazines that were once Kardashian country – Us Weekly, In Touch, Life & Style and OK! – dropped nearly 18 percent in December when any member of the clan graced their covers. The paper also points out that Kim was dropped by sneaker-maker Sketchers in 2011, and “replaced her with a French bulldog.” [ABCNews]

Maria Bello – WE ADVANCE * CHARITY

Co-founded by activist and actor, Maria Bello, WE ADVANCE is a movement to advance the health, safety, and well being of women throughout Haiti. We work in some of the poorest slums in all of the western hemisphere – Wharf Jeremy and Cité Soleil – where security issues deter the work of most international NGOs. We start from the bottom because it’s where we are needed the most and, as co-founder and activist, Barbara Guillaume, says: “If we can change the worst of Haiti we can change all of Haiti.”

WE ADVANCE models an inclusive grassroots approach with a movement that collaborates with both other organizations and women from every socio-economic class.

WE ADVANCE is a rights- and community-based participatory program. We empower women’s minds, bodies and spirits and enable them to discover their own needs and priorities, benefiting the entire community.

WE ADVANCE brings in volunteer experts to train local community leaders in the aspects of health, safety and education.

WE ADVANCE’s goal is to, in the near future, leave our programs in the hands of Haitian women, the women who know best what they need and how to make it a reality.

Kim Kardashian Defends Haiti Trip

Kim Kardashian Denies Rumors That Haiti Trip Was For Show

Posted Wed, 2011-12-21 16:26 by Tracy Scot

UPDATE: Okay so according to Kim K. her mission to Haiti was to (1)  learn more about the charity We Advance. (2) meet the Haitian people who have already made some progress since the earthquake of 2010.  (3) celebrate the women of Haiti. (4) Kim did help the Haitian people by buying some of the Jewelry that they sell to make a living. Way to go Princess!

The National Enquirer reported that Kim and her mother, Kris Jenner, went to Haiti in expensive clothes, stayed in a thousand–dollar suite, and ripped the runway during a fashion show. The Enquirer slammed Kim in the article stating, “her plan backfired as irate locals blasted her as a ‘phony’ and told her: ‘Go back home, Kim!’”

These accusations are false, according to Kim K. She let her fans know on her website, “Our mission was to learn more about Maria’s [Bello actress from television hit “Prime Suspect”] charity, We Advance, meet the Haitian people who have made such amazing progress since the devastating earthquake in 2010, and celebrate the women of Haiti, who inspired me more than I ever could have anticipated.”

As far as Kim’s love for fashion goes, she did explain that she bought jewelry in Haiti. “The truth is that I was at the Haitian Artisan Fair, where the amazing men and women who make their jewelry and crafts sell them to visitors to make a living.”

The Enquirer also went on to report that Oprah Winfrey is mad with Kim Kardashian’s trip to Haiti, however, Kim Kardashian re-tweeted Oprah earlier this month with this tweet “Seeing the tents they STILL live in is devastating! Every1 can help RT @Oprah: 500k Haitians still homeless! Like the earthquake happened yesterday.” – Gianna Banner  [READ FULL ARTICLE]

People Who Live In Glass Houses…

Kim Kardashian’s 72 day-old marriage maybe a little shocking, but certainly not because America expected it to be a long lasting marriage. Khloe Kardashian gave it 6 months, and because celebrity marriages don’t usually last long, I didn’t hold out much hope for its longevity either.

Here’s why:

1. Kim was, and now is still the odd woman out. Her biological clock was/is ticking, and she had no man and no children, and her sisters had both. She was not going to be outdone, she felt pressure.

2. The world was still goo-goo, ga-ga over the recent nuptials of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the R O Y A L S.

3. Kim loves the euphoria of being in love. The actual nuts and bolts of maintaining a healthy, happy marriage didn’t seem to be an issue for Kim or Kris, because there were aspects of each others lives, that both of them were unaware of.

4. Kim loves her celebrity and all the attention that goes with it. She is professional about her career and brand because we haven’t really heard any bad press concerning any raunchy behavior, or diva attitude. So I think we can conclude that she runs a “tight ship,” and her marriage would probably have been no different, it would have been another division of her brand to manage.

5. We saw problems during the episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians. The family was lukewarm towards Kris H., and Kris was not going to get in line behind Lamar or Scot and become Mr. Kim Kardashian. It was said in one of the episodes that Kris H. was not drinking the Kardashian koolaide. He also didn’t even pay for the newsworthy ring. I could understand a poorer man receiving some help with a ring for his woman, but Kris is wealthy. Why not let the ring be the one thing that he solely purchased to symbolize his deep love and commitment to Kim. Instead some group was involved in the process, that’s lame.

Nevertheless, I don’t think that the nuptials were staged. I think Kim’s heart was all in the “fairytale” aspect of this blind, uninformed, whirlwind romance. Along with that though, I think when Kris H. was locked out of the NBA, which came on the heels of tensions they were already having, and he started spending Kim’s money for partying while laid-off, that was enough to scare Kim off. Kris became “unmanageable.”

I could be wrong and I could be right with my assessments. Truth is this is Kim and Kris’ business, they are adults, and it doesn’t hurt my existence. Therefore, I don’t understand why someone felt strongly enough to start a petition. Ten million plus viewers watched their wedding. Keeping up with the Kardashians, has been on television for six years because of viewers. Just about everything up until now that the Kardashians have done in terms of promoting their brand has been received by the viewers who love and follow them.

Kim Kardashian is the icon that she is because of John Q public. She is as wealthy as she is because of John Q public. If members of the public have turned on Kim and the Kardashians, then simply turn your channel, or cancel your subscription to E. But to create a petition, at a time when there are more meatier matters facing the world we live in, is ridiculous. You know, Jesus said to a group of men who were ready to stone a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery, “He who is without sin cast the first stone.” I just want to make the same point, America, drop your stones, instead take your 80,000 strong voices of protest over to OCCUPY and fight for the future and freedoms of the people of the world.
